BrightMLS.com, the MLS of the mid-Atlantic, reports that mid-Atlantic buyers are less likely to purchase above list price during the summer of 2024. ”

As summer wraps up, buyers typically see some seasonal softening—longer days on market, falling prices, and lower demand impacting market competition. Affordability challenges have impacted prospective buyers, but we know from the most recent Bright MLS subscriber survey that some buyers must compromise when it comes to price.

Mid-Atlantic buyers who purchased in the past several months in 2024 were less likely than buyers in 2023 to pay above the original list price, according to listing data from Bright MLS. In July 2024, 45.3% of buyers paid more than the original list price compared to over half (51.0%) in July 2023.”
